American Authorities Announce Apprehension in Foiled New Year's Eve Explosive Plan Near Los Angeles

"The plan was specific," the attorney remarked. "It contained step-by-step instructions to build IEDs … and identified numerous objectives across Orange county and Los Angeles."
According to the case and the complaint, the plan entailed placing bags filled with complex pipe bombs that were planned to be set off simultaneously at midnight on New Year's Eve at several sites. New Year's Eve was chosen as an opportune time because the scheme stated "pyrotechnics will be going off at this time so blast noises will be harder to be heard."
An eight-page longhand document, titled "OPERATION MIDNIGHT SUN," suggested that more targets could be incorporated. The locations were described as premises and operations operated by two separate corporations connected with business affecting interstate and foreign commerce.
Future Plots and Evidence Seized
Court documents also indicated that two members in the group had planned subsequent operations focusing on ICE agents agents and vehicles with explosives in 2026. One individual allegedly said that such actions "would kill some and scare the rest of them."

The filing details that the group "each brought explosive materials to the location, among them various sizes of PVC pipes, believed to be an oxidizer, fuel, powdered charcoal, sulfur powder, and components to be used as fuses, among others."
The scheme also had steps on how to build the devices and how to not leave behind traces that could be linked back to the group. The individuals had in the recent past acquired components and other materials, via buys from major websites.
Operation and Subsequent Actions
Federal agents moved in last week when the suspects were rehearsing the operation in the desert near a California town. "They possessed every item they needed to build an functional explosive device at that site," the prosecutor stated.
As part of executed raids, officials allegedly located posters for the Turtle Island Liberation Front at one suspect's residence that called for "America Must Fall", and "Eliminate ICE". At another accused's home, police discovered a duplicate of the detailed explosives scheme.
