Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

US entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in popular programs like Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in LA this Monday having undergone cancer treatment since 2022, per news outlets.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones stated in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Notable Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

Finn appeared in a couple of episodes of Friends as character Monica's love interest a doctor named Roger.

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.

Pat Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
