Supporters Call for Detainment of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the pop star are calling for that a person who jumped a barrier and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or removed from Singapore.
A circulating clip reveals the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a event pathway surrounded by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram feed features videos of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user remarked.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Well-being
Several fans blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande looked shocked when she was touched by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had gathered in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore mall, including several who had queued for as long as many hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the surprising bond between two very different witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of last year in the UK, and scored a dozen award recognitions, securing several for outstanding attire and production design.
