The President Calls Loved Ones of Attacked National Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He added that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Tragic Shooting
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Response
Community members gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in Washington DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to help others.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments
Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The incident caused the administration to suspend asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Morrisey said on television.
Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to the family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
